On the morning of October 14, 2025, Thuyloi University held a working session with 12d Solutions Pty Ltd (Australia) – a leading company specializing in engineering software for infrastructure design, water resources, and drainage systems.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai, Vice President of Thuyloi University, chaired the meeting together with representatives from the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Faculty of Water Resources Engineering. The partner delegation included Dr. Lee Gregory – Managing Director, and Dr. Soon H. Teh – Sales and Channel Manager of 12d Solutions.
Vice President Nguyen Canh Thai expressed his pleasure in welcoming the representatives of 12d Solutions, and introduced the University’s strengths in training and research, particularly in Information Technology, Water Resources Engineering, and Civil Engineering – fields with strong potential for collaboration with the company. “Thuyloi University places great emphasis on promoting digital technology applications in research and training, thereby expanding cooperation with leading technology enterprises to enhance the quality of education and research capacity of our staff and students,” Vice President emphasized in his remarks.

Mr. Lee Gregory, Managing Director of 12d Solutions, introduced an overview of the company, which was founded in Sydney, Australia in 1991. The company specializes in providing advanced engineering software solutions in the fields of infrastructure, water resources, drainage, and spatial data management. Its flagship products 12d Model and 12d Synergy are currently used in more than 65 countries for road, bridge, hydraulic structures, and urban planning projects.
During the meeting, both parties discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in training, research, and the application of 12d Model – a globally recognized tool for the design and management of transportation works, urban infrastructure, hydraulic systems, and water supply and drainage networks. The software supports detailed 3D digital terrain modeling and integration with surveying equipment for real-time measurement and design. The 12d Solutions representatives also introduced the Education Network academic version, designed for educational institutions to help lecturers and students access and utilize 12d Model software in a professional training environment.

12d Solutions expressed strong interest in collaborating with Thuyloi University in engineering training, developing applied research projects, and implementing BIM technologies for horizontal infrastructure.
Previously, in 2019, Thuyloi University and 12d Solutions signed a contract for the use of 12d Model software for training purposes, marking the beginning of cooperation between the two sides. In this session, both parties discussed possibilities for joint research and software application in drainage and urban technical infrastructure projects in Vietnam, including real-world case studies in Hanoi. 12d Solutions expressed readiness to collaborate with Thuyloi University in developing pilot research models (case studies), while providing access to software libraries and online training courses for the University’s lecturers, students, and research groups.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue detailed discussions to develop a concrete cooperation plan, aiming toward the implementation of joint research projects, technology transfer, and training collaboration. The meeting opened new opportunities for partnership between Thuyloi University and 12d Solutions, contributing to the integration of advanced modeling technologies into education, research, and sustainable development in Vietnam.
