On the afternoon of September 7, 2026, Thuyloi University welcomed a delegation from Chinese Culture University (CCU), led by Dr. Tzu Chi Wang, President of CCU, together with Mr. Kevin Tsai, Vice President in charge of International Cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet, President of Thuyloi University, with the participation of Vice President Nguyen Canh Thai and representatives of various departments and units. During the meeting, the leaders of the two universities discussed future cooperation objectives within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2025.
Established in 1962 in the Yangmingshan area of Taipei, Chinese Culture University is now one of Taiwan’s major private universities, comprising 11 colleges and boasting a global alumni network of more than 300,000 graduates. With post-graduation work opportunities and dedicated Chinese-language enhancement programmes for international students, CCU is considered an affordable study-abroad destination offering Vietnamese students a wide range of opportunities for academic and career development.
During the meeting, Dr. Tzu Chi Wang shared insights into Taiwan’s current demographic situation and labor market. According to projections by Taiwan’s National Development Council, Taiwan may face a shortage of approximately 480,000 workers by 2030, particularly in fields such as electrical engineering, information engineering, semiconductor technology and AI, tourism, marketing, and business administration.
President Tzu Chi Wang expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese universities, including Thuyloi University, through the implementation of joint training programmes, the development of a highly qualified workforce, and the recruitment of Vietnamese students to study and work in Taiwan. He also proposed providing scholarships for students from both universities. In addition, he suggested opportunities for collaboration in scientific research, short-term teaching, and the organization of professional workshops between the two institutions.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet affirmed that Thuyloi University highly appreciates the goodwill and commitment to cooperation demonstrated by Chinese Culture University in recent years, particularly through the provision of Master’s scholarships in Economics for TLU students. He also expressed his hope that the two universities would continue to expand cooperation based on two key pillars: education and science and technology.
Representatives of TLU’s academic and professional units also exchanged views and proposed expanding cooperation opportunities in the fields of economics, languages, and engineering. They further recommended that the two universities regularly organize academic seminars featuring the participation of experts and lecturers from both institutions, thereby promoting academic exchange and strengthening scholarly collaboration.
Also during the meeting, Mr. Kevin Tsai, Vice President of CCU, introduced to Thuyloi University a cooperative programme that CCU is currently implementing with Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd. (USI), a member of ASE Technology Holding and one of the world’s top 10 companies in System-in-Package (SiP) technology. USI recorded global revenue of USD 8.3 billion in 2025 and operates a manufacturing facility in Vietnam. The programme is designed as an integrated pathway, covering stages from internships to Master’s-level study and full-time employment at USI. Mr. Kevin Tsai expressed his hope that CCU and Thuyloi University could jointly participate in the programme, thereby providing TLU students with a clear and stable career pathway at a global technology corporation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue promoting faculty and student exchanges, organizing seminars and workshops to facilitate academic exchange, strengthening language teaching for students from both universities, and exploring opportunities for joint training programmes. The two sides also agreed to continue planning annual exchanges of leadership-level delegations and jointly organize events to further strengthen their relationship. These practical cooperation initiatives in the coming period are expected to contribute to the internationalization of education and further broaden and deepen the partnership between the two institutions.
