MASTER’S PROGRAMME — COASTAL ENGINEERING
Introduction
The master’s programme develops highly qualified professionals for the sustainable development of marine and coastal areas. It responds to national priorities in the marine economy, coastal resilience and the responsible management of maritime infrastructure.
Highlights
Designed with an applied orientation, the curriculum combines advanced coastal-engineering knowledge with practical problem-solving. It draws on international academic experience, including the marine-engineering tradition of Delft University of Technology, while addressing the environmental and infrastructure conditions of Vietnam.
| Credits | 60 credits |
| Duration | 1.5 years (18 months) |
| Orientation | Application-oriented |
Objectives
Learners develop advanced competence in the investigation, planning, design, construction, operation and management of nearshore and offshore infrastructure. The programme addresses fixed and floating structures, hydrodynamic and seabed–structure interaction, numerical modelling and modern construction methods, while strengthening communication, teamwork and construction-investment management skills.
Career Prospects
Graduates may undertake research, teaching, consulting, management and specialist engineering roles in government agencies, universities, research institutes and enterprises concerned with coastal and marine engineering. They are also prepared to lead focused technical teams and develop independent lines of applied research.

DOCTORAL PROGRAMME — COASTAL ENGINEERING
Introduction
The doctoral programme prepares researchers and senior specialists to conduct independent, original inquiry and solve complex problems in coastal and marine engineering. Its emphasis is on creating knowledge and technologies that support resilient infrastructure, sustainable coastal development and national maritime priorities.
Highlights
Research themes include coastal and island infrastructure, estuarine and marine dynamics, coastal protection, and engineering solutions that contribute to the conservation and restoration of coral reefs and mangrove ecosystems.
| Credits | 92 credits for applicants from relevant disciplines; 96 for related disciplines; 129 for candidates entering with a bachelor’s degree |
| Duration | 3 years for candidates with a master’s degree; 4 years for candidates entering with a bachelor’s degree |
Objectives
Candidates acquire the theoretical depth, methodological independence and practical judgement required to advance marine and coastal engineering. Research may address coastal protection and estuarine regulation, ports and offshore platforms, storm-shelter and anchorage facilities, transport and defence infrastructure, and civil or hydraulic works in coastal and island settings.
Career Prospects
Graduates may work as academics, researchers, senior consultants or technical leaders in universities, research institutes, ministries, science and technology agencies, agriculture and environment authorities, construction bodies and companies engaged in the planning, design, construction, management and operation of coastal, marine and hydraulic infrastructure.
