On September 23, 2025, Thuyloi University welcomed and held a working and exchange session with a delegation of students and lecturers fromInstitute of Science Tokyo (Japan), led by Prof. Motomu Nakashima from the Department of Systems and Control Engineering, together with students participating in the Tokyo-AYSEAS exchange program. This is an annual program organized by Institute of Science Tokyo, aiming to provide international students with opportunities to gain practical insights into countries in the Asia region, while promoting academic exchange and strengthening connections among students of partner universities.

In his welcoming remarks to the delegation, Dr. Le Quang Tuan, Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, expressed his pleasure in receiving the delegation and emphasized the University’s orientation toward strengthening international cooperation, promoting interdisciplinary research, and expanding student exchange opportunities.

Expressing his appreciation for the warm reception by Thuyloi University, Prof. Motomu Nakashima, Head of the delegation from Institute of Science Tokyo, also conveyed his thanks to the University’s leadership for creating favorable conditions for the student delegation to visit, engage in exchanges, and participate in academic discussions with Thuyloi University’s lecturers. He further expressed his desire to develop a long-term partnership with Thuyloi University in education and research.

At the academic exchange session, Dr. Nguyen Van Thang, lecturer of Faculty of Civil Engineering, delivered a presentation entitled “Recent Landslide Conditions and the Application of a Simple Model to Predict Shallow Landslides over Large Areas in Vietnam.” Dr. Pham Thi Hong, lecturer of Faculty of Chemistry and Environment, also shared insights on environmental challenges in the era of artificial intelligence. Dr. Hong highlighted risks arising from electronic waste and the high emissions of AI systems, while proposing research solutions that apply artificial intelligence to environmental monitoring, waste treatment, and the development of sustainable agriculture.

Lecturers of Thuyloi University also engaged in discussions, provided explanations, and inspired students from both institutions, giving them greater motivation in their study and research journeys. The open and constructive exchanges between faculty members and students enabled all parties to explore new research ideas, enhance mutual understanding, and deepen practical scientific knowledge, particularly for student groups interested in disaster risk reduction, climate change, and environmental protection. The discussion session not only strengthened connections between lecturers and students of the two universities but also opened up many practical opportunities for international cooperation, contributing toward sustainable development in Thuyloi University’s key areas of strength.
